The weekly Oakdale Farmers Market on Wednesday, July 12 will be the site for a final regular distribution of Farmers Market Coupons for age and income-eligible senior citizens, offered through the Stanislaus County Aging and Veterans Services Office.

The free Farmers Market coupons are good for $20 worth of coupons to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs or honey at the various Farmers Markets in the area, including the Wednesday night event in Oakdale. Hosted on North Third Avenue, between E and F streets, the market runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features fresh fruits and vegetables, music, vendor booths with merchandise, local shops staying open late along the street – many offering special deals – and some North Third Avenue vendors also bringing their own merchandise out onto the sidewalk and street to join in with the market event.

The special coupons are only for those seniors, 60 or older that meet the income eligibility, (self-declared) who haven’t already received the coupons. Only one $20 coupon booklet per person is given out per year.

Stanislaus County officials will be at the Oakdale market between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on July 12 to distribute the coupons.

The market itself runs every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, continuing through Sept. 27.

For those unable to make the Oakdale market, eligible seniors who have not already received coupons this year will have one final opportunity to pick up a booklet, at the Modesto Farmers Market on Saturday, July 29 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in front of the Modesto Library at 1500 I St., Modesto.
