Coming off their best season in decades, several members of the Oakdale High School boys basketball program recently competed in a prestigious tournament.

Over the weekend, head coach Kelly Power, his staff and a number of Mustangs – including some from the varsity team and others that played at the JV level during the past winter season – traveled to participate in the Nor Cal High School Summer Classic that was hosted in Mountain House. A total of 35 teams from around the region gathered for the two-day event.

“I could not be more proud of the way our guys competed against some of the most physically gifted and talented teams we have ever seen,” Power said.

Oakdale played against Folsom, Clovis, Vallejo and Tennyson, going 2-2 over the weekend.

Making the trip for Oakdale were Bryce Busam, Beau Kesterson, Brody Jones, Kyler Haidlen, Donavyn Hernandez, Brycen Lambert, Eli Paz, Jairek Fogleman, Ryan Rien, Landyn Peachman, Quentin Leon, Zander Hernandez and Jack Camp.

Among the top efforts, Bryce Busam scored 36 points against Folsom and connected on nine three-point field goals in that loss.
