Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms will be off session in August and Resume in September, 2018.

“Little Scientists” S.T.E.A.M. Program for ages from Kindergarten to 8 years old, will be on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 3:30 p.m. Listen to a book then explore the world of science with some hands-on “detective activities” in our “science lab!” Sign-ups are required in advance, starting on Aug. 1. We will have two Lego Days this month on Thursdays, Aug. 2 and Aug. 23, at 3 p.m. Kids can unleash their awesome creativity and we will display their masterpieces in the library. Join us for building fun.

Teen Craft/Book Club is back. We will be reading about four teens struggling to stay alive in a world where society has fallen and no one can be trusted. Please pick up a copy of “Dark Inside” now at the library and then join us to talk, share, and create on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 3 p.m., as we make Custom Keys with paint and decoration. Please bring your own keys and imagination!

Our Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.

Our Children’s Craft this month will be looking at “End of Summer Fun!” as we create Something Slimy, and Something Sweet. There will be slime to make and cookies to decorate (not with the slime!) so join us on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m.

Enjoy our new monthly edition of Family Story Time. Come for a special Saturday Story Time experience on Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. Books, music, finger plays and more.

Our Computer Classes for Adults will be focused on “Basics” this month, Aug. 14, 21, and 28. These classes begin at 10:30 a.m. Call the Library for info and be sure to reserve your space. Each session is limited to four people. Call 209-847-4204.

Also, if you are an adult interested in learning or improving in Microsoft Word, you will want to join our class on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. Class limited to four people, sign up by calling 209-847-4204.

Tiny Tots Luau Fun! With older siblings returning to school, little ones will still enjoy a tropical bit of summer fun on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. We’ll be listening to a story, dancing the hula, doing the limbo, and making a craft. “Aloha summer…”

Bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps a Mexican Hat Dance!

Our Library Book Club will be focusing on a variety of books authored by Jodi Picoult. Stop by and pick out your choice to read and review, then join us when the Book Club meets on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our great programs and prizes, including our fabulous gift baskets given to Adult Summer Reading drawing winners. The Friends constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone.
