Center for Human Services - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host its Second Annual Community Baby Shower on Saturday, April 23 during the ‘Love Oakdale’ event. Up to 15 women can attend the event and each woman is encouraged to bring a support person for a total of 30 attendees. To register for the event, call CHS-Oakdale Family Resource Center at (209) 847-0420. Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis and each participant who registers in advance will receive a special prize.

The shower will be a brunch. There will be games, raffles, prizes and every mother-to-be in attendance will receive a gift. To be eligible for the event you must be a new participant in the Healthy Birth Outcomes (HBO) program, a weekly support group for pregnant women who want to learn more about how to have a healthy pregnancy and women who have a child younger than 1-year-old. There will be a shower for current HBO program participants later in the year.

The CHS-Oakdale Family Resource Center would appreciate any donations of new baby items, such as diapers or baby clothes, for the event. If you are interested in making a donation or registering for the event, call CHS-Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center at (209) 847-0420.

In 2010, Center for Human Services opened the Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center which has allowed them to continue to provide various prevention, education, counseling and family resource services for youth and families from Oakdale, Riverbank and the surrounding areas. Those services have included: Literacy and School Readiness for pre-school age children, Parent Education, utility and crisis assistance, support groups and behavioral health counseling.

CHS - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center assists families and equips them with skills they need to succeed. The bi-lingual staff allows them to broaden the scope of people served and the majority of their services are offered at no cost to recipients.
