Members of the Oakdale community and surrounding areas are coming together for a charitable cause. Dr. Christina Chan and Oakdale Mixed Martial Arts Academy, along with other businesses, are joining up to lend a hand in helping a local youngster’s wish come true. Organizers said a 4-year-old girl, with optical cancer, has been selected for a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Her name and that of her wish are not yet being disclosed but will be at a later date.
The Oakdale MMA will host an eight-hour workout on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help raise money for the young girl. The workout will be eight different classes, one per hour focusing on various self-defense tactics. Other fundraisers in the area include Cocina Michocana, at 1061 E. F St., Oakdale which will be donating 20 percent of their day’s profits to the effort. Although a specific date has yet to be set for that event, you can also purchase Make-A-Wish stars from Cocina Michocana, Oakdale MMA, Cahoots Corner Café at 110 E. F St., Oakdale and Rockin B’s Burger Company on McHenry Avenue in Modesto to help donate to her wish. You can make checks payable to Make-A-Wish Foundation and cash is also accepted.
