City Preps For 2016 National Night Out
OPD New Patch

National Night Out will be observed on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 2 this year in Oakdale and across the country.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

The Oakdale Police Department participates in and supports groups and neighborhoods in celebrating this special evening in Oakdale.

“We will have our officers attending many of the local celebrations as well as the annual community-wide event in Burchell Park which starts at 5:30 p.m.,” said Interim Police Chief Mike Harden. “Burchell Park is located at the intersection of East C Street and Burchell Hill Drive, in the Burchell Hill neighborhood.

“Come celebrate what a wonderful city we live in and enjoy the events, people, free food, and information at an event near you.”
