At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting, Sheriff Adam Christianson was the speaker. He gave an update on the budget; 10 million dollars were cut from the budget. They have 600 employees in the department and instead of cutting personnel, the department cut costs. The Sheriff helicopter is parked, too costly to run. Adam himself took a pay reduction. Sheriff Christianson discussed the early release of prisoners, not a great thing for the communities. Also on the agenda was the awarding of a scholarship to an Oakdale High School student, and it was decided to raise the donation to $250. The annual Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll, to be held on November 1st, was discussed. Saturday at 2:00 p.m. the crafters can set up in the clubhouse. Next meeting, November 5th will also be a pot luck meeting with Birgit Fladager, District Attorney.

Your reporter has the entertainment report from the Zero Party. Ben Cassinetto was the bandleader of the Ben’s Belly Busting Band, with Lisa Frymire, Phil Frymire, Sara Harris, Tracy Griesner and Blain Lee on the instruments. The play for the night was a take off on Laugh-in. Cast members were: Ernestine- Helga Kaiser, Gladys Ormsby- Lisa Frymire, Tyrone F. Horneye- Phil Frymire, man on bicycle- Tracy Griesner, Go-go girls- Kathy Mangante and Dorothy McKinsey, Announcer- Sara Harris, Wall Support, all of the above. Set designer and stage crew were Robert, Pat Taylor, Laurie, and Linda LaMore. Thanks for a great show!

Congratulations go out to Troy Mangante and Brandy Hayes on their marriage. They were wed September 12th at the home of Marci (Troy’s sister) and Al Bairos.

Kelsey Cole, daughter of Ron and Karri Cole, former Knights Ferry residents, was honored at a wedding shower given by her aunt Trina Duncan and cousin Mallory Hill. Kelsey will marry Sam Phelps next month and they will reside in Simi Valley where they are attending Eternity Bible College.

October 17th the Odd Fellows will host a car show of vintage and rods on the tennis court in the Ferry. It will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Food will be available.

Gary Shook reports that a rattlesnake was on their property. Barbara Shook reports that he RELOCATED it up the hill!

The community yard sale was well attended and all had a great time. The participants want to do it again in the spring!

The Sixth Graders at KFS went to Outdoor Education Camp. They had a good naturalist and had a hands-on education on Geology and Ecology. They enjoyed the Blind Walk, the night walk and making fire as the Indians did. This is a great program. Teacher Paige Jones enjoyed her first time experience. Before attending camp, the sixth graders learned about the Stone Age, some students ate a Stone Age diet for a week, think roots and berries. Some students made spears and fire, and all played a hunting and gathering game.

Sam Johnson, son of Pat Pfefferle, worked on a project for the MIND Institute, working on a test for Cognitive Development. He was successful in his project and hopes to do more for them.
