There was an accident with a fatality on the Highway to Sonora across from the lower Tulloch turnoff that caused a hillside fire and closed the highway last Saturday.

At the meeting of the History and Museum Associates it was announced that some proceeds from the car show at the 50’s Roadhouse would go to the Knights Ferry Church.

School has started and Kaeli Sweet, freshman at Oakdale High, enjoys getting up early and the fact that there are different students in each class. She enjoys the new responsibilities of high school. Vincent Peterson, fifth grader at Knights Ferry, likes his new teacher Mrs. Headrick. James Peterson, third grader at Knights Ferry, likes playing with all his friends.

On the subject of school, at the last Knights Ferry Board meeting the new Superintendent/Principal Dr. Janet Skulina told of the faculty reviewing Science programs. She also noted that the school bell would be rung every morning (YEA!). The school started with 89 students as of last Thursday. August 26th will be Back to School night. Dr. Skulina was asked to be the speaker at the September Community Club meeting. She is looking forward to meeting the community. Teachers Lisa Fogerty and Jackie Headrick will be the curriculum directors for the year, Melissa Holcomb will run the Science Fair and Randy Russell will be the Tech person. The new secretary Anita Ivaschenko was also at the meeting.

This Saturday, August 22, the River’s Edge is having a Sock Hop. The oldies music starts at 6:30 p.m. with root beer floats, hot dogs, and hamburgers etc. for $15. Come in costume or not.
