Rick’s saloon is now open! Even though the General Store and Spoons Café have been open, the saloon remained dark and desolate over the past few months. Many patrons can attest to the nostalgia of having a drink inside the saloon. I also saw that Nancy Patton opened her doors of the Knights Ferry Home shop next to the Post Office! She has some really cute home décor. It has been really good to see our local businesses serve locals and visitors over the past few weeks. The past few months have not been kind to small businesses and many have permanently closed their doors but thankfully, our local small businesses have been fighting to keep their doors open. Please continue to be patient, kind, and supportive to our small businesses.

Knights Ferry School announced they will resume a traditional full day schedule on August 12, 2020. They acknowledged these plans are tentative and because things could change over the next few weeks, the school is prepared to make changes as necessary. Some of the immediate changes at school include: no volunteers on campus, social distancing of students at pick-up, and students will all face one direction in class and lunch eating times. They will offer a Home and School Hybrid Learning Program for families who are interested. Families who are interested should contact the school on August 1st for a complete program description and application.

David and Heather Voortman took their family on a trip of a lifetime traveling 88 miles down the Green River in Utah in just 6 days! They slept on the river bank and spent most of their daylight hours rafting the river. They packed supplies including clothes and food on the boat and they travelled with close friends and family. The Green River makes our Stanislaus River feel like a stream with brisk water traveling around 15,000 cfs! Our local river averages around 800-1200 cfs and can be higher or lower depending on the season.
