The weather forecast predicted wet weather last weekend for the Civil War reenactments. The reenactors braved the weekend and set up their canvas tents on Friday night where they endured a bit of hail and wind throughout the night. The reenactments took place both days for the crowds who were brave enough to climb the steep hillside for the best view to watch the battles. Overall the weather wasn’t as bad as predicted; it was cool with scattered showers mostly in the evening. Some of the reenactors joined in with the local crowd at the spaghetti fundraiser at the Community Club last Saturday night. There was live music during the dinner and after dinner, a group of reenactors invited everyone to dance as they would have in the 1800s. It was great to see everyone having a lot of fun! A lot of people assume our local community members perform the reenactments but in truth, it is a group from out of town, who perform the reenactments to educate the public about a very pivotal time in our country. They work to set up authentic camps and even hold school programs and enjoy showing off their authentic clothing, equipment, and artillery weapons.

The spaghetti feed was a hit at the Community Club. They had a good crowd, lots of food, and even more fun. John Pfefferle and Tracy Greisner gathered a great group to help put on the fundraiser!
