Soccer Girls Beat Opponents, Heat In Turlock

The Oakdale/Riverbank US Club Soccer team, playing as Turlock FC, got to heat it up this weekend in the annual Turlock Summer Fest Tournament. It was a great weekend for summer soccer with temperatures hitting 104 on Saturday afternoon. To add to the degree of difficulty, FC played Saturday with 12 players and 11 Sunday morning due to summer vacation schedules.
The competitive squad played to a two-win, two-loss weekend. The barn burned on Saturday with Izzy Arellano getting the hat trick with three goals and one for good measure from Sara Siemsen. The shut out was nearly preserved until the 68th minute when Diablo FC finally put one in the goal. The second game was not nearly as kind, as the heat turned on and the team played with only one substitute. Those factors combined to take a toll and FC ended up on the short end to a strong East Fresno team.
Sunday, pre heat, the girls got it fired up again with a strong show netting a 1-0 win with Erica Orellana going one on one in front of the box, faking the keeper and putting it in the back of the net with a tap in. The second game on Sunday again met its maker with a 3-1 loss to FC Bullard. Sara Siemsen popped it in with a strong bending goal from the 25 out to take away their shut out. Jen Rosenberg, coach for FC, continues to push the local girls to new levels of play by reaching out to all levels of competition.
The next tournament planned is in mid-August. Girls lacing it up this weekend were Izzy Arellano, Erica Orellana, Mikayla Snyder, Letty Arellano, Sara Siemsen, Sydni Avant, Jennie Siemsen, Emily Bennett, Katie Odom, Celina Lopez, Megan Hunter, and guest players Haley Hinkle (keeper) from u15 Ajax and Kalya Machado.
