I am excited to share news that our Oakdale Thunderbird will be at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield this weekend. Wyatt Bankus is an Oakdale High School alum who has worked very hard and has never stopped reaching for the stars. Wyatt is a member of the elite United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Wyatt gives credit to his Oakdale High ag teacher, Isaac Robles for having a huge impact on his life. This weekend The Thunderbirds will show their mighty air power at Travis Air Force Base in the “Wings Over Solano” air show. It will take place both Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26 at Travis. It will be an amazing air show with tremendous air power for all to see and enjoy. Before becoming an Air Force Thunderbird, Wyatt was a very highly respected rodeo star, well known in the rodeo world. Today he looks toward the sky; Wyatt, I hope you always keep reaching for the stars … you have made us all proud.

I have more exciting news: The Oakdale Enrichment Society will be honoring our veterans, young and old alike, on Saturday, June 27. The All-American Bash will include a very special “Thank You” to those amazing men and women who have served our great country . We will be serving slices of pie to our veterans between 5:30pm and 6:30 pm on Saturday, June 27. The All-American Bash is possible through the hard work and dedication of the Oakdale Enrichment Society. It is also a celebration of our country’s birthday; this year we are celebrating 250 years. Red, white, and blue will fill Dorada Park adjacent to the city swimming pool. With this being America’s 250th birthday, we honor those who sacrificed so much to serve our great nation. Please call me at 209-985-5233 to sign up for your place at our “Thank You” observance. A special area will be set up to serve pie and make our veterans comfortable. Look for the “Pie For A Patriot” area at the park. Immediate family will be served pie as well and are welcome to sit with their veteran in the patriot area.

Please call or text me to get your veteran’s name on the list and reserve your spot. It’s going to be a wonderful evening. If any of you have ideas you would like to share or you would like to help, we would very much appreciate hearing from you. We will work together to show our veterans how much we appreciate them. This is a very special opportunity for each of us to say “Thank You” to those who sacrificed so much.

There will be more details on this exciting event coming soon. Remember there will be something for everyone, a kids zone, food and refreshments, great entertainment and more.

We are grateful to the Oakdale Enrichment Society for making this event a wonderful reality.
