I would like to share some news about our Oakdale Enrichment Society and the upcoming “All American Bash.”

This year the All American Bash will be held on Saturday, June 27. It will be held in Dorada Park (next to the city swimming pool). The fun will begin at 5pm and go until 10pm. Such a true old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration. We are celebrating 250 years of our great country; 1776-2026. Even with all the issues we have, I believe we are blessed by our mighty God to live in this great country.

During this very special evening, we will honor the men and women who have served our country, our veterans, young and old. Our veterans have served on land, at sea and in the air … they have served so that we could live free. If you are a veteran, have a veteran in your family or you know of a veteran, please call me, Winnie, at 209-985-5233. Please help us honor the service of every veteran. We will be serving slices of patriotic pie to our veterans and their families from 5pm to 6pm on Saturday, June 27. Please make sure you sign up with me so that I will have you on our list. We will have a special red, white and blue area with tables and chairs for our veterans and their families. It is very important for us to come together to say “Thank You” to our veterans. I encourage all to take the time to shake their hands and let them know how very much appreciated they are. I deeply hope our community will come together … that we will bring our children and our families to say thank you to these very special veterans. We owe each of them a debt we will never be able to repay.

Our Oakdale Enrichment Society is planning a wonderful evening for all.

There will be food available for sale or please feel welcome to bring your own picnic. Be sure to bring your chairs or blankets and stake out your place in the park. Remember, tables and chairs will be provided for our veterans and their families in the red, white, and blue area. It’s very important that you call or text me with your veteran’s name and the number of family members who will be accompanying them. By calling me, you will help me know how much patriotic pie we will need to have for serving.

Also, there is a very limited amount of parking available for the vehicles our veterans will arrive in. It is located at the back of the park in the area known as the horseshoe parking; it will be on a first come first served basis. Only vehicles carrying a veteran will be able to park in this area, and it could possibly fill up very early. If you have a handicap or need help, please let me know and we will do our best to take care of your needs.

I will provide more details in next week’s column about so much more going on Saturday, June 27 for the All American Bash including the Best Patriotic Dressed Contest, featuring exciting prizes to the winners. I will also share more on our headliner, Willy Tea. Come enjoy the fun.
