This week I would like to honor the life of someone most of us have never met … but yet many of us felt like we knew her; we often felt like she was a part of our family. I would like to say a few words about our beloved Dolly Parton.

I am inclined to believe that God had his hand on Dolly as he does each of us from the very beginning of our lives. Dolly had an incredibly hard life as a child. She was determined to overcome the hardships of her youth and create a life where she could give back.

Dolly was a praying woman all her life; she always turned to her faith in God, during good times and the not so good times. Each of us have our own thoughts on who Dolly was … for some of us she was an Angel here on earth.

She was such a beautiful lady … kind, caring, vibrant and full of life … she deeply appreciated where she came from and was determined to honor the people who helped make her who she became. She was a grateful person. She prayed every day that God would help her uplift others.

Yes, Dolly in her youth came from a life of poverty and hardship … the life she worked so hard for came years later with great joys and many riches. Dolly would see great opportunities, many wonderful adventures and tremendous joy in her lifetime.

Although we all knew she was special, she never acted like she was better than anyone. She treated those that she met like they were the special one. It really didn’t matter to Dolly whether you were rich or poor; in her eyes she loved everyone the same.

Dolly wasn’t afraid of hard work. She believed in her abilities, she believed God had a purpose for her being here on this earth … as I believe he does for each of us.

Dolly always stayed true to herself but always put God first in her life. Her husband of her entire married life was the true love of her life, Carl Dean. Dolly loved her entire family with her whole heart. With a beautiful heart of gold, Dolly made sure we all knew she “would always love” us.

Dolly had a special love of all children and her Imagination Library has given thousands of free reading books to children all across the land.

Yes, most of us never met her in person but didn’t you somehow feel if you were to see her in person, it would feel as if you had known her all your life. Dolly was truly an Angel on earth. Rest in beautiful Heavenly peace, Dolly.
