Hi everyone; I hope you are each having a wonderful week. I wanted to share a few of the words from a truly beautiful song. Although I have heard it many, many times it is such an encouraging and uplifting song, I wanted to share a few of the words with you today. I know many of you have also listened with great joy to this song. I hope the words I share today will bring each of you peace, hope, and encouragement. Here are a few of the words to “God On The Mountain”.

“Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain … the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. God of the good times is still God in the bad times … He will make it right …”

I hope you all have a chance to listen to this very special song of encouragement. I hope it will touch each of you in some way today.

Please remember Wednesday, October 14 is our Valley Home MAC meeting. Our county officials, our first responders and others will be there to give their reports and answer your questions. They will be happy to listen to your opinions and your concerns; they will also enjoy any compliments you choose to give them. I appreciate each of them very, very much. The meeting begins at 6:30pm in our Bonnie Gellerman gymnasium.

I would also like to share more this week on our Valley Home Fall Harvest Festival. It will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 6:30pm to 9pm, at our Valley Home School.

Come enjoy a beautiful night under the stars. Listen to great music, while eating a delicious harvest meal. Bring your own lawn chair or sit on a harvest hay bale.

Our first responders will be visiting with festival goers during the evening. A beautiful golden pumpkin will be hiding somewhere up front. The lucky finder will take home the golden pumpkin, and a fun prize. Other contests are:

- Homemade Scarecrow Contest

- Carved Pumpkin Contest

- Decorated Pumpkin Contest

- Homemade Pie, Favorite Dessert Contest

Bring your entry to school on Harvest Festival evening before 6pm. Winners will be announced at 8:30pm by our Valley Home School Superintendent Bill Slikker.

During the evening join in the fun, the pie eating contest, the milk drinking contest, and the costume parade contest.

Enjoy exciting and fun games; a huge thank you to our high school helpers.

Come try out our cowboy roping, have so much fun in our new kiddie land, enjoy delicious treats from our sweet shoppe, have fun visiting our amazing petting zoo, play bingo, have your face painted, bid on a class basket, or bid on a delightful silent auction item. We do have a few areas available for our very own Valley Home entrepreneurs; kids or family members who attended Valley Home School. Call me for more information. Remember our Harvest Festival was created over 25 years ago as a rural celebration of school and community coming together. It is not designed to be a big money maker or a big fundraiser; actually, in over 25 years the game tickets are still the same price. It is a time to celebrate our rural way of life … coming together to enjoy an evening of visiting with old friends and new. It is truly a beautiful peaceful evening of celebrating our rural way of life together. It is a special night in Valley Home. I hope to see you there.
