This week I would like to share really exciting news. Our Valley Home School upper grades will be going to Washington DC and to New York this coming March. This is an amazing opportunity for our Valley Home School students. We deeply appreciate our teachers, our school Superintendent Bill Slikker and especially our eighth-grade teacher Mrs. Holly Benkula for their hard work to make this year’s trip a reality.

I am excited to report that two of our Valley Home School students are holding an exciting fundraiser to earn their way to Washington DC. Brother and sister Brylee and Bryce Martin are going together on this amazing trip. Bryce and Brylee have put together an awesome fundraiser to help with their travel expenses. They invite you to come out on October 10 for a great day of cornhole competition. Bryce, Brylee and their parents Kimber and Bryan Martin will be hosting a fun Cornhole fundraiser. Please come out and enjoy a great time while helping the kids earn travel expenses to Washington DC.

Delicious nachos will be for sale during the day. Those of you who know the Martin family know that they love to have fun and they love to support our community. Now it’s our turn to support Bryce and Brylee. They are the great grandchildren of our late fire chief, Chief Benedix. The kids’ great grandmother Edwina Benedix still lives in our Valley Home community. Brylee and Bryce are the grandchildren of Cindy and Chuck Fleischer of Valley Hom , they are the niece and nephew to long time Valley Home residents, aunt Maria and longtime Valley Home resident fun loving Davey (Bud) Ferreira. Let’s reach out and support this family who have done so much for our community.

The Cornhole fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 and will take place at 29560 Lone Tree Road. It will start at noon. I hope you each consider supporting these amazing kids as they work hard to raise funds to go on this very special educational trip to Washington DC. If you are not able to attend, but would still like to support the kids you may Venmo Kimber or get in touch with Bryan at 209-840-1367. This is a trip of a lifetime.
