In a tough sports week for the Riverbank Bruins, they took losses in football, flag football and volleyball.

For the varsity football team, they traveled to face off against River Islands on Friday night, Oct. 9. The Bruins were not able to get in the end zone in the contest and fell by a 41-0 final. That dropped them to 2-4 overall and the Bruins are 0-3 in Mother Lode League play, still looking for that elusive first league win. They are scheduled to host Calaveras at Angelo Novi Field on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

The flag football Lady Bruins, meanwhile, were also on the road. They failed to score in an Oct. 12 contest at Mariposa County, falling to the host team by a 37-0 decision. The girls are 7-4 in Mother Lode League action and are 8-15 overall.

On the volleyball court, the varsity girls fell in a pair of contests this past week. They are still looking for a Mother Lode League win, currently sitting at 0-6. They lost a home match against Bret Harte on Oct. 6, swept by the Lady Bullfrogs, 3-0. Then they were on the road, playing at Summerville on Oct. 8 and shut out there, 3-0.
