I would like to send a special “Thank You” to Michelle McKenzie and Vicki Soares for refurbishing our Valley Home chalkboard sign. Michelle and Vicki were blessed to have Pat McKenzie do the sanding for them. The chalkboard message board has served our community for many, many years. It was known as a way for community members to communicate between each other. Folks would leave messages there for each other. It was a wonderful way for many years to let folks know what was going on in Valley Home. Now it welcomes folks to Valley Home as enter the community. It is still a place to put a message and to communicate with our friends and neighbors in Valley Home. The chalkboard will always be a special part of our Valley Home history. We deeply appreciate Michelle and Vicki taking time from their busy schedules to make it beautiful again.

This week I would also like to send out another reminder to please mark your calendars for our Valley Home Fall Harvest Festival. It will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 6:30pm to 9pm at the school. We will come together once again to celebrate our bountiful harvest season. This week I would like to feature our Scarecrow Contest, which is great fun for all. Please consider making a fun scarecrow … maybe even setting it up in your yard for a bit before Harvest Festival. It’s always so much fun to drive around and see the different Scarecrows in yards around Valley Home. To enter your Scarecrow in the Fall Harvest Scarecrow Contest please put your name on the back of your Scarecrow before bringing it to the Harvest Festival. Please deliver your fun Scarecrow to the Pumpkin Patch area before 6pm on Harvest Festival Day. It is very important to make sure your name is attached somewhere on the back of it, with a phone number. There will be awesome prizes awarded that evening. More info coming soon.
