Traveling to face off against Albany on Friday night, Sept. 11, it was a successful road trip for the varsity Riverbank Bruins, as the football team upended the host Cougars by a 40-6 final.

Leading the way was Daniel Orunja, who had seven carries for 69 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns for Riverbank. Jamie Gabert had 10 carries for a total of 97 yards in the game, also finding the end zone.

Riverbank put eight points on the board in the first quarter and eight in the second, taking a 16-0 lead at the half. They outscored Albany 8-6 in the third and then capped it off with two more touchdowns and a pair of 2-point conversions in the fourth quarter for the final score of 40-6. Adding the other touchdowns for Riverbank were Mataeo Navarro and Alexander Rodriguez, as the team had five on the night.

It was the second straight win for Riverbank and they will be back on the road for a Friday, Sept. 18 contest, when they head to nearby Beyer High School in Modesto to face off against the Patriots.

FLAG FOOTBALL

The varsity Lady Bruins got two flag football wins and took one loss this past week. They shut out Linden at Linden by a 29-0 final on Sept. 7. But they were on the losing end of a 31-0 final, on the road at Ripon, on Sept. 8. In a Monday game, Sept. 14, they rolled up plenty of points against Vanguard College Prep out of Modesto, shutting them out 52-0.

VOLLEYBALL

In action Sept. 9, the varsity volleyball girls lost a 3-1 decision against visiting Venture Academy. They battled on the road at Ceres on Sept. 10 but still came up short, losing 3-1.
