Two people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Oakdale on Sunday, Sept. 6.

According to a press release from the Oakdale Police Department, they received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in an alley near the 200 block of South First Avenue about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 6.

Officers responded and found a 40-year-old Sonora man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives with the Oakdale Police Department Investigations Unit identified two suspects believed to be responsible for the shooting.

They were identified as Michael Romero-Porter, 34 of Riverbank and Chelsie Williams, 25, of Oakdale.

With assistance from allied law enforcement agencies, investigators tracked both suspects to Carson City, Nevada, where they were taken into custody without incident on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Romero-Porter was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at in inhabited dwelling or occupied vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition.

Williams was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, accessory after the fact and battery.

Both suspects remained in the Stanislaus County Jail and are due to appear in court on Sept. 17.
