Taking part in the Kim Duyst Twilight Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, Oakdale cross country runners traveled to River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres for the event.
The Varsity Boys race was a 5k and featured 123 runners in the Invitational Division.
As a team, said head coach Guy Fowler, they took fourth place.
Individuals: Weston McGhee (12,) 6th Place,15:18; Quinn Baca (12), 23rd Place, 15:57; Trevor Powell (11), 36th Place, 16:13; Aden Cavanaugh (10), 37th Place, 16: 15; Roman Moreno (11), 50th Place, 16:27; Ezekiel Perez (10), 81st Place, 17:07.
The Varsity Girls also ran a 5k in the Invitational Division, featuring 58 runners, and they took third place.

“Very good first meet of the season,” Fowler noted. “The kids performed well considering how late they ran; after 10 p.m.”
The Mustangs were scheduled to take part in the first Valley Oak League Meet on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Mistlin Park in Ripon.
VOLLEYBALL
After starting the season strong with a couple of Valley Oak League wins, this past week was a tough one for the varsity volleyball girls. They fell in a pair of VOL matches, dropping a hard-fought road match to East Union on Sept. 9, then taking a 3-1 loss to Sierra on their home court in Oakdale on Sept. 14.
WATER POLO
The varsity Lady Mustangs were busy with a non-league match and a number of tournament games, defeating four of five opponents. On Sept. 9, they were 18-2 winners over Lincoln. They then played back-to-back days, Sept. 11 and 12, facing off with two opponents each day. Friday, they edged out River City, 17-14, and shut out Gregori, 13-0. On Sept. 12, they had a loss to Atwater, 11-7, but came back with an 8-4 win over Heritage.
For the varsity boys, they were 15-4 winners over Lincoln on Sept. 9, putting five goals on the board in the first quarter, followed by four in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth while limiting Lincoln to three scores in the first, one in the third.
GIRLS TENNIS
In a Valley Oak League contest, the tennis team faced off against Manteca and lost by a 7-2 final on Sept. 9.
FLAG FOOTBALL
A couple of rough outings for the Lady Mustangs on the gridiron, with the varsity flag football team taking a shutout loss on the road at Central Catholic, 56-0, on Sept. 9 and then losing to Mountain House in a game on the home field Sept. 14, with a final of 19-6.
