A Ford truck hauling a cattle trailer crashed into the still-under construction Oakdale Community Park in an afternoon accident on July 12.

At 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, officers were dispatched to a traffic collision that occurred at 300 N. Yosemite Ave. Upon arrival at the Oakdale Community Park that is due to open in early September, officers immediately noticed a Ford truck hauling cattle had damaged a fence and came to rest against a concrete barrier. According to a witness, the truck was traveling northbound on North Yosemite Avenue, made a sharp right turn and drove over the fence into the construction zone. Officers contacted the male driver who sustained minor injuries and learned the driver fell asleep just prior to the collision.

Oakdale Animal Control responded to the scene to assist with the cattle. There were two cows and a baby calf located in the trailer. One cow sustained a minor injury and the other two were unharmed.
