The Delta Blood Bank Bloodmobile out of Stockton made the trip to Oakdale on Saturday, July 9 and set up shop for a few hours at the National Guard Armory on South Yosemite Avenue. Registrar Kim Huynh, left, gets donor Specialist Durwinder Singh of Modesto signed in and provides information about the blood donation while others wait their turn in the background. On the actual bloodmobile itself, Oakdale resident Jan Ballard smiles as she prepares to donate a unit of blood, with Delta’s Sarah Fountain prepping her for the procedure. Officials said most of the donors came from the soldiers on maneuvers that weekend at the armory, though there were some community donors as well, with more than 20 people signed up to donate. The need for blood increases during the summer; donors can give every 56 days.
