Symphony Of The Sierra Presents Spring Concert

The Columbia College Symphony of the Sierra will perform its spring 2013 concert on Saturday, May 4 at 3p.m. in the Dogwood Forum Building on the Columbia College campus. Admission is free. Doors open at 2:30p.m.

Conductor, Mic Harper is delighted to present three contemporary works. The exciting Storm by Jordan Grigg features the orchestra’s percussionists. Jerry Lanning’s Fanfare and Pursuit for brass and percussion highlights the orchestra’s brass section. The bold An American Rhapsody is a new work for full orchestra by Richard Meyer. Cellist Judy Thompson and trombonist Danielle DiBartolomeo will perform in a transcription of the duet, Suscepit Israel, from the Magnificat by Francesco Durante. Saturday’s program will also include Purcell’s Overture in D, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and the Bacchanale from Saint-Saens’s Samson and Delilah.
