The Stanislaus Library Foundation brings baseball and libraries together with “A Night at the Ballpark” on Sunday, Aug. 18, to raise funds for the 13 libraries of Stanislaus County.

The event-filled evening begins at 4:30 p.m. on the John Thurman Field Party Deck with a featured presentation by United States Historian Dr. Samuel O. Regalado. Dr. Regalado is the author of two books on baseball in America, Viva Baseball and Nikkei Baseball.

The event also includes a barbeque, box seats for the Modesto Nuts vs. the Bakersfield Blaze, and opportunities to throw the first pitch, own artwork designed by Becky Murphy for the 2013 Summer Reading Program, or co-host an inning with the announcer.

Tickets are $65 per person. For ticket reservations or more information visit stanislauslibraryfoundation.org, email info@stanislauslibraryfoundation.org, or call 209-204-9360. Reservations are needed by Monday, Aug. 5.

This year the Foundation funded the entire Summer Reading Program in all 13 libraries for over 11,000 children and teens. Additional funding is provided for the increasingly popular eBooks now available through the library’s website and the Foundation hopes to add funding to increase the purchase of children’s books for all 13 libraries.
