The Oakdale City Council, at its Monday meeting, will hear a presentation from Finance Director Albert Avila regarding the possible return of street sweeping of residential areas and restoration of street lighting to areas that were discontinued due to budget cuts.

After a presentation at the last meeting from Interim City Manager Stan Feathers about a better-than-expected budget highlighting Measure O funds and some city personnel cuts put the city in a position with $200,000 more than it had budgeted for at this point in the year, some council members asked Avila to look into the restoration of street lighting due to concerns they had received from residents.

In June of this year, then Director of Public Works Joe Leach had presented three plans to city officials that included seasonal street sweeping services once per month from September to March, yearly once per month and yearly twice per month cleaning.

Chief Lester Jenkins will also give an update on the police department.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 277 N. Second Ave.
