Octoberfest Back On Right Track

Pumpkins, vendors, and a petting zoo — Octoberfest at Bloomingcamp Ranch is back on the schedule after being scuttled due to the iconic Oakdale pie shop going dark without a lease.

The event will be held this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and admission is free.

Traditionally, whoever leased the pie shop put on the Octoberfest but now that the shop is being leased to a wedding cake maker and caterer, there was no one to take the reins.

That is until Wizzie Wisilinski, owner of A-1 Elegance and Glass, located at the ranch across from the baking kitchen, decided the tradition needed to live on and in a Hail Mary maneuver started making phone calls to vendors.

With only five weeks on the clock, Wisilinski, with the help of the local Chamber of Commerce, managed to scare up 40 quality vendors — most of which are new to the venue — for the 24th annual Octoberfest.

“It’s been a lot of work putting together all these vendors but it was such a shame to cancel it,” Wisilinski said. “The Bloomingcamps are so appreciative of the community support.”

Featuring ceramics to cloth dolls, leathermakers to food, the event will be held rain or shine.

There will also be fresh candy apples, cupcakes and cookies baked to perfection with Joy Bloomingcamp’s recipes.

Bloomingcamp Ranch is located at 10528 East Highway 120.
