Oakdale Library Serves Up Month Of Activities

The Oakdale Library will be offering a number of programs for all ages during the month of February. The library is at 151 S. First Ave.

Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.

Also, bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. Enjoy “rockin’ out” to some favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps, a Mexican Hat Dance.

A Valentine theme will be part of the library’s Children’s Craft as attendees make “Heart Suncatchers” on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. Get ready to “let the sun shine in” with these bright and unique creations.

The popular “Little Scientists” S.T.E.A.M. Program for ages from Kindergarten to 8 years old, will be on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m. Attendees will be exploring the science of “Pollinators” with fun and interesting hands-on activities and discussion. Sign-ups are required in advance; call the Oakdale Library at 209-847-4204 for info.

The two “Brick/Block Building Days” this month move to Fridays, Feb. 7 and 21, at 3 p.m. Kids can create their own masterpieces using the library’s assortment of building materials.

Plan ahead for the library’s special “Read to a Dog” event coming on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This positive program gives children a relaxed unconditional atmosphere to practice reading aloud. Drop by the library and read to a certified therapy dog. No sign-ups are necessary in this program designed for independent readers up to age 12. Books are provided or child can bring their favorite. The dogs enjoy any child’s choice!

“Zoom” into the library on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m. for their “Paper Airplanes” family fun craft. Everything will be provided to get you soaring with some high-flying fun.

And also, on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 11:30 a.m., library staffers will be hosting the ongoing Oakdale Library Book Club for adults. Join in to meet, mingle, and chat with other literature lovers. Read and discover new books, genres, and authors. Stop by the library to sign out a copy of the current selection, then join in for a great discussion. New members are always welcome.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of many of the library’s programs and prizes. They are preparing for their annual book sale, coming in March.
