New Stanislaus County Civil Grand Jury Seated
Stan Co COURT SEAL

Two Oakdale men have been selected to serve on the 2016-17 Stanislaus County Civil Grand Jury.

Melvin G. Bradley and Glenn R. White were among the 19 people selected on June 27, in Department 1 of the Superior Court. Judge Marie Sovey Silveira presided over the selection of those who will serve on the 2016-2017 Civil Grand Jury and four alternates. The jury’s term is for one fiscal year and began on July 1. The term runs through June 30, 2017.

Judge Silveira appointed Timothy Warnock foreperson of the 2016-2017 Civil Grand Jury. Three jurors from the 2015-2016 grand jury were held over to serve a second term: Bruce Helmer, Carol Perry, and William Terra. Fifteen names were then drawn randomly to complete the 19-member grand jury panel, including Bradley and White. Four additional names were drawn as alternates. The alternates will be called to serve in the event that a regular grand juror resigns or is removed.

Immediately after the selection process and swearing-in ceremony, the new panel attended an orientation session. They also will attend a required two-day training session presented by the California Grand Jurors’ Association, a not-for-profit educational organization, on July 13 and 14.

Fourteen Modesto residents are on the panel, in addition to two from Denair, one from Salida and the two Oakdale men. Alternates include one Turlock resident and three from Modesto.
