Rain proved not to be a deterrent as a small army of students and community members descended on the Oakdale School Farm this past Friday to plant trees.

A total of 56 Redwood trees donated by Oakdale Rotary and Keith Frantz of Frantz Wholesale Nursery were planted on the northeastern edge of the farm. Volunteers from Oakdale Rotary, Oakdale Joint Unified School District staff, Oakdale High School Interact Club and FFA each grabbed a shovel to make light of big work.

Oakdale Rotary President Rick Schultz and Keith Frantz were instrumental in making the planting and donation possible for the district, officials said.

The next School Farm project of major significance will be the Pig Barn, which will be constructed just north of the Show Barn.
