An Oakdale man and his 4-year-old son died from injuries stemming from a collision that occurred Thursday afternoon, Aug. 20 on Barnhart Road near Santa Fe Avenue, said officials.

According to California Highway Patrol, Bridget Knight, 35, of Oakdale was driving eastbound on Barnhart with Brian Chapman, 40, their 4-year-old son Joseph Chapman, and another 17-year-old female when they collided with a 2000 Ford F-250 driven by a 26-year-old Denair woman as they entered the intersection. The front passenger of Knight’s 1992 Ford Crown Victoria, Brian Chapman, was killed at the scene. The teenaged girl and Knight suffered major injuries and were flown to area hospitals. The young boy was in the middle rear seat wearing a seat belt but was not restrained in a child safety seat. He suffered major injuries and later died at Emmanuel Hospital in Turlock. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the collision.

The family has set up a fund at BBA Compass Bank, formerly known as Guaranty Savings, in the grandmother’s name for donations to cover funeral expenses (FBO: Memorial Fund For Family of Olivia Knight).

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27 at Lakewood Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
