Personal Records Set By Oakdale Swimmers
OHS Mustangs

A handful of records were broken this past weekend by Mustang swimmers. As a team, Oakdale’s varsity girls placed fourth overall in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II competition with a total team score of 82. The boys finished in seventh overall with 36 points. Although the season has come to a close, the Mustangs made a lasting impression in the record books.

For the boys Ethan Perry placed eighth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.83, a new Oakdale High School record. Stash Perry earned a new Mustangs record in the 200 freestyle event. He swam it in 1:47.28 and placed 22nd overall. Oakdale’s varsity girls 200 medley relay team set a new school record with a time of 1:54.06 to finish 11th overall. On the team were Bre Campbell, Ashlynn See, Haley Rivera and Jensen Perry. The same team also set a record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.22, which was good enough for a seventh place finish. See, Rivera, Campbell and Kayla Peterson also set a school record in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:43.29 to finish sixth overall.

“This group of swimmers was the most cohesive team I’ve coached,” said head coach Russ Van Cleave.
