Mixed Results Seen By Water Polo Teams

Oakdale’s boys and girls water polo teams began league play this past week. Both teams traveled to Ripon for the league opener on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The girls defeated Ripon 13-1 but the boys fell 16-7.

In girls action, Whitney Lee, Bethany Metcalfe, Hayley Rivera and Daytona McGinnis each had two goals for Oakdale. Scoring single goals in the win were Kassidy Houch, Savannah Derby, Kayla Peterson, Neesa DeLeon and Maya Guerrero. In the post was Camryn O’Neal. The girls took a break from league play to compete in the Clovis North Tournament over the weekend. The girls lost 13-3 to Clovis North on Friday and 7-4 to Monache of Porterville on Saturday. Oakdale traveled to Calaveras on Tuesday, Oct. 10 following The Leader’s press time. The girls will also host Central Catholic on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.

For the boys it was Dakota McNeil and Aron Cameron each scoring three goals for Oakdale in the loss at the league opener in Ripon. Caden Nord also found the net for Oakdale for a single goal. In the nets it was Logan Carry with 11 saves and Zach Hill finished with two saves for Oakdale. The boys took on Calaveras on Tuesday, Oct. 10 following The Leader’s press time and will host Central Catholic on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m.
