Monday afternoon, Oct. 30 the Oakdale High School girls golf team competed in the 2017 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament. The prestigious event was hosted at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

The two-time defending Valley Oak League champion and winners of the 2017 Sac-Joaquin Section D III title Oakdale Mustangs finished fifth in the tournament overall with a team score of 429.

Leading the way for Oakdale was Andrea York. She shot a team low 78 on the day, which ranked her 18th overall out of 108 total golfers on the course. York missed the cut to advance to NorCal CIF as an individual by five strokes. Just two strokes behind her was Taylor Stewart at 80. Madi Blanc wrapped up her impressive season by shooting 85. Makayla Christiansen ended her season with a score of 90 and both Allie Denning and Shealyn Hanrahan shot 96.

Although the team finished in the top five, the Lady Mustangs missed the opportunity to advance to the NorCal CIF Playoffs by 15 strokes. Only the top three teams advance into the NorCals and those were Granite Bay (365), Oak Ridge (392) and Pleasant Grove (414).

The 2017 campaign, however, will go down as one of the most memorable seasons for the Oakdale High School golf program as they went undefeated in Valley Oak League action and won both the league championship as well as the Section title.
