CLARA TERESA KISST obit

It is with great sadness that we share, our beloved Clara Kisst has passed away at 88 years old on March 1, 2024.

Clara was born in Hanford, CA, the eldest daughter to Manual and Lena Nunes, and sister to David Nunes, Shirley Thomas, Sharon Predes, and the late Vera Carper.

Clara was the adored wife of Gust Kisst Jr. The two met while attending Ceres High School where their courtship began. Clara was Portuguese and Catholic, while Gus was raised Greek Orthodox. The two patiently waited until the very first day they could legally wed without parental permission, and on Gus’ 21st birthday, in 1957, they eloped to Las Vegas. Their love story serves as a great example of her strength of character and her devotion to those she held most dear.

Clara is the mother to Debbie Cole and David Kisst, Grandmother to Josh Cole, Ryan Cole, Cameron Kisst, and Madison Kisst, and Great Grandmother to Athena Cole, Adam Kisst, Lucy Kisst, and Zoey Kisst.

Clara is remembered for her infectious laugh and the unconditional love she gave to her family. She was quick-witted, with funny quips at the ready, and yet always with a listening ear. Many remember her extraordinary ability to throw a party. Clara thrived when hosting, and all throughout her life she hosted large, lively family gatherings where her guests wanted for nothing. Not only did she devote herself to her family, but she helped nurture and grow a still-flourishing family business. She was a collector of many things, first and foremost being her family member’s love and admiration. That, she keeps forever.

A private service for the family will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Escalon, CA.
