Valley Home News for July 15, 2009

We have received a news item from “Mohawk” the Valley Home School mascot who writes: I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer break and getting to have some fun with friends and family. The Valley Home Parents Teacher Club (PTC) would like to invite you to a summer meeting on Tuesday, July 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Gym on the Pioneer Avenue campus. Discussion on the upcoming year’s calendar of events will be the main topic.
We would love to have your take on events and share your ides with the group. If you are new to our school, come and see what we are planning so you have a jump-start to the 2009-2010 school year-calendar, and be able to meet everyone ahead of time. Refreshments will be served and we look forward to seeing you there!
Valley Home PTC does a wonderful job throughout the school year working on projects to help raise funds to purchase needed items to benefit our students which the regular budget is not able to cover. The group also aids in providing fun and educational activities for the students to participate in.

Valley Home School board member, Ron Smith along with Justin Trunnell and Principal Hart would like everyone to help with the summer landscape project that is happening at our Pioneer Campus. If you know someone who may be able to donate items to this project or would like to donate something for a tax deduction this year? Please contact Mr. Justin Trunnell at (209) 613-4445. Some of the items that would be helpful are plants, sod, concrete, and decomposed granite, or if you would like to donate money, please call Justin to see whom the check should be written to.
We have received word that Tammie Smith purchased some plants and planted them next to the Pioneer Road fence and also in the three planters located there. She and husband, Ron were seen doing some ground work and it looks like they are getting ready for sod too!

Busy weekend for Lisa Jones and her husband, they had to haul a llama to its new home by Sacramento, then checked on a couple places where they have sheep pastured, and managed to work on fencing too. Sounds like they had a long day!

The Valley Home MAC meeting is tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the school library. Plan on attending and find out the latest news about the community. The opening day for applicants to get their name on the November ballot for the Valley Home Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) vacancies was Monday, July 13, and the nomination period will remain open through August 7, 2009. There will be 3 positions open on the ballot so we are asking all residents within the Valley Home MAC boundaries to think seriously about getting their name on the November ballot. The Valley Home MAC has done a lot for the community in its less than two year life and will do much more in the future. You can be one of the ones to lead our community. Contact the County Clerk-Registrar of Voters to get your application into the system before the deadline. For more information email burghart@inreach.com.

A reminder that National Night Out is August 4th. This is the date to call attention to the GREAT WORK that the local Neighborhood Watch Programs are doing in watching our home areas for signs of trouble. This includes Valley Home which this year is encouraged to participate in the area celebration at the Wood Park in Oakdale. More information next week.
