Art Space Show

Propellors and airplane wings come to mind when one enters Stanislaus State’s Art Space in downtown Turlock. Xiao Xiao Plants Roots

When Stanislaus State College of Business Administration Dean Terence Pitre reflects upon his decision to hire Assistant Professor of Operations Management Xiao Xiao, he’s reminded of a popular phrase: “no-brainer.” With her diverse set of skills and knowledge, Pitre saw great potential in Xiao, who was born and raised in China. She holds a master’s degree in corporate management from the South China University of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in management science from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics.

Turning Adversity Into Advocacy

Manny Alonzo was born with a congenital condition called fibular hemimelia, which left him without a left fibula, a major bone in the lower leg. The condition caused a significant difference in each leg’s length, resulting in him having more than 20 surgeries, procedures and operations throughout his life. Despite enduring years of medical struggles, Alonzo, a graduate student, was determined not to let his disabilities stop him from pursuing his dreams.

Alumnus Dave Gomes Honored

Stanislaus State will name the press box at Warrior Field the Dave Gomes Press Box in recognition of the late Stan State Hall of Fame inductee. The ceremony will take place prior to a doubleheader against Cal Poly Pomona at 12:45 p.m., April 6. As a student in 1966, Gomes, of Los Banos, served as a scorekeeper, statistician and student manager for the Warrior baseball and basketball teams. He also was an announcer, trainer, equipment technician, driver, assistant coach, radio reporter and scoreboard operator.
