Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 4-29-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, April 21 through Monday, April 27. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, APRIL 27

Members of the incident management team participated in Cal Fire’s advanced fire management course in Tahoe.

Battalion 2: Crews finished weekly checks on the first out apparatus.

Battalion 5: Companies completed weekly apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews completed weekly station maintenance.

Engine 27 and Battalion 5 completed a pre-fire walk through of a townhome complex in their area. Firefighters focused on long hose lays and limited access.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews worked on completing mandatory online training.

8:38 p.m. – Engine 27 to Cutting Horse Lane for medical aid. OVHD ambulance and firefighters arrived on scene to find the patient having a stroke. Stroke protocols were initiated and the patient was quickly packaged and transported to a local hospital with one firefighter on board to assist with patient care.

SATURDAY, APRIL 25

Battalion 2: Engine 26 and Engine 23 participated in Love Riverbank activities.

Battalion 5: Engine 28 and Battalion 5 attended the Love Oakdale event Saturday morning.

Engine 28 pre-planned their fire management area and reviewed the boat ramps along the Stanislaus River.

Engine 29 assisted in helping with the landscaping project for Love Valley Home event.

12:37 a.m. (Sunday) – Engine 27, Engine 28, Engine 29 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a report of a solo vehicle accident rollover with a pin-in on Orange Blossom Road in East Oakdale. When crews arrived on scene, they found an SUV that had driven off the road and crashed and wrapped the vehicle around a large tree with the driver side of the vehicle taking the brunt of the impact. The driver was injured and trapped inside the vehicle. After approximately 15 minutes the patient was extricated and was then transported by ground ambulance to a landing zone near the accident scene. The patient was then flown to a local hospital for treatment.

FRIDAY, APRIL 24

The MFD Engineer Academy completed the final day of training at Turlock Lake.

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 companies completed training on new operational policies and procedures.

THURSDAY, APRIL 23

The MST Firefighter Academy continued live fire training evolutions at Fire Station 17.

The MFD Engineer Academy continued training at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Companies rotated through Station 15 for the final day of Lucas device and monitor maintenance.

Battalion 2: Personnel assisted the academy during burn week in fire attack training.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Station 27 performed weekly checks on reserve apparatus consisting of Water Tender 27 and Grass 4617.

Engine 27 trained on engine company operations, deck gun deployment.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22

Companies rotated through Station 15 for Lucas device and monitor maintenance.

Battalion 2: Labor management and strategic planning meetings were held at Station 22 and Station 26.

Crews conducted general station and apparatus maintenance. Repairs on first-out equipment continued.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and completed mandated Target Solution assignments.

Crews conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Water Rescue 28, WR29 and E11 conducted Boat Operator Training on the Stanislaus River.

Engine 29 performed station maintenance at Station 30 in Valley Home.

3 p.m. – Engine 27 and Battalion 5 responded to a report of a vehicle vs. bicyclist on G Street in Oakdale. Crews arrived on scene and found one patient who suffered minor injuries. Crews treated the patient on scene who was later transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

5 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 26, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 responded for a potential structure fire on Reardon Avenue in Oakdale for smoke in the garage. Crews arrived on scene to a single-family residence with nothing showing. E27 met with the home owner and located a faulty garage door opener. E27 remained on scene to secure power to the opener and the remainder of the response was cancelled.

TUESDAY, APRIL 21

Battalion 2: Crews worked on station cleaning and maintenance.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 27 and Engine 28 had their Lucas Devices and Lifepack cardiac monitors serviced and updated by the MST EMS Division and the local vendor.

12:31 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 to Monterey Lane for a potential structure fire. Crews arrived and found a faulty igniter on a stove. Firefighters secured the natural gas and the power to the unit, advising the homeowner to get it repaired.

6:05 p.m. – Engine 26, Engine 7, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 to Riverside Drive for a potential structure fire. First arriving crews found that lightning had struck a large redwood tree outside of a home. The ensuing electrical surge caused significant damage to the main electrical box of the home. It also damaged a vehicle and shattered the windows of the home next door. Crews secured the area and requested PG&E.
