With a slight increase, average gasoline prices in Modesto averaged $5.55/gallon on Monday, April 27, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto rose 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week; they are 9.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 99.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $5.11/gallon while the most expensive was $6.39, a difference of $1.28/gallon. The lowest price in the state was $4.29 while the highest was $9.79, a difference of $5.50/gallon.
The national average price of gasoline has risen 7.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.04/gallon. The national average is up 5.7 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 94.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $5.64, up 14.0 cents per gallon from $5.50; Oakland - $5.90, up 7.2 cents from $5.82; and San Jose - $5.85/gallon, up 5.8 cents from last week’s $5.80/gallon.
“Average gasoline prices rose in 39 states over the last week, with the national average moving higher, while diesel prices declined in most states, offering a brief divergence at the pump,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Historical gasoline prices in Modesto and the national average going back five years show the highest Modesto price was $5.36 on April 27, 2022 and the highest U.S. average was $4.14 per gallon on that same date. Lowest average price was on April 27, 2021 when it was $3.84 per gallon in Modesto; $2.88 nationwide.
