Loren and Barbara Reid recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family at Isadore’s Restaurant in Manteca. They were married at Escalon Methodist Church on Jan. 28, 1961.
The couple has spent almost their entire 50 years of marriage in Escalon, working side by side every step of the way as they ran their own family dairy. Whether it was rebuilding tractor engines, milking cows, irrigating, or just working on the ranch, they worked together almost all the time and still do; they wouldn’t have it any other way.
Together they raised three children, Randy, Doug and Debbie and even while running the dairy they still made time to never miss a sports game, concert or any event their kids participated in. Their focus on the family helped their children learn the value of a strong work ethic and how to appreciate each other.
The couple also has six grandchildren, Jena, Danielle, Julie, Kate, Derek and Brooke, ranging in age from 24 to 12. All the grandchildren have fond memories of feeding the cows, swimming for hours on end during hot summer days and occasionally putting on ‘pageants’ in the basement.
Their children and grandchildren thank them for being a constant example of what a happy and wonderful marriage can be and wish them many more wonderful years of marriage to come.
