The couple first met at the Oakdale swimming pool, as children. They later met again and began dating while students at Oakdale High School and were married June 12, 1960 at St. John’s Church in Valley Home. They have spent their entire married life in Oakdale.

Mr. Giovannoni served in the National Guard after graduating from college and then began a 35-year teaching career at Davis High School. Mrs. Giovannoni worked as a bank teller and later became a homemaker, once the couple’s two children were born.

Their children are Vince Giovannoni of Santa Barbara and Jenna Miller, wife of Shane Miller of Oakdale. They are the proud grandparents of Grace Marie Miller.

The couple will celebrate their golden anniversary with a quiet dinner surrounded by close family and friends.
