They regrouped for a home game victory on Wednesday, April 22 as they roughed up Sierra by a 10-3 final. It was a four RBI day for Oakdale’s Christian Amerine as he crushed a grand slam in the third inning. Amerine also got the start on the mound, with Niki Jones coming on in relief. Continuing to take it one game at a time, Oakdale won the regular season finale on the road Friday, April 24, as they defeated Sierra by a 7-2 final. Chance Ravalin had a home run for Oakdale and the Mustangs had 11 hits on the day. Kane Gray went 3-for-4 for Oakdale in the win.

“We have no games this week; we find out on Saturday, May 2 what seed we will be for playoffs,” head coach Joey Machado said, with the Mustangs going 11-7 in Valley Oak League play, finishing fourth. “The goal is to have a good week of practice, hit basic fundamentals and points of emphasis to get us ready to make a run in the playoffs.”

SOFTBALL

On the road Thursday, April 23, the varsity Lady Mustangs took a 5-2 loss in softball to Manteca. They did bounce back with a 6-5 win on the home field Monday, April 27 against Mountain House and will close out the regular season on Wednesday, April 29 hosting East Union.

Mountain House took the lead, 5-4 with two runs in the top of the seventh in Monday’s game but Oakdale got the exciting walkoff win with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

VOLLEYBALL

The 2026 season has come to a close for the Oakdale High School varsity boys volleyball team. This was the fourth season of the program and one player has been there since day one, senior David Freitas.

“David will go down as the first student-athlete in Oakdale to be a four-year player for our program. He has worked so hard; both as a player and transitioned into a leader. He is a special player and person. I am very proud of how he carried himself and our team,” said head coach Kelly Nasrawi.

The only other senior on this year’s team was foreign exchange student, Davide Ameli of Italy.

“Davide is an amazing, brave person. He joined our team, and is playing a sport he had no experience in. His presence alone has been a gift to all of us,” Nasrawi noted.

On Monday, April 20 the team took the home court for the final time this season. They hosted the Mountain House Mustangs. Oakdale lost in straight sets, 11-25, 14-25, 13-25.

Mountain House went 12-0 and won the Valley Oak League championship.

Oakdale ended their season on the road at Manteca a couple of days later, falling 3-0, and the Mustangs went 2-10 in Valley Oak League action.

“This season was about growth, and I feel like we reached that. This is our fourth year as a program and we are young,” Nasrawi said. “I said it day one that these guys are competitors and want to do their best each night. I feel like they accomplished that.”
