It has been an amazing last couple of weeks! First a family trip to Idaho … truly the beauty, the lush green pastures, fresh cut alfalfa fields, plentiful water, the people, friendly and welcoming … it was a wonderful trip for all!

The day we got home I received the most heartwarming call from a lifelong friend … he just happened to pick up the Oakdale Leader, saw my picture and called. He and his wife had no idea of the events of my life over the past year, so when he shared with me that he had always thought my husband Richard looked so young … it completely made my day! My thanks to a kind caring friend, with whom I have delightful childhood through high school memories … my thanks to the entire Burgess family ... friends for a lifetime!

This weekend several family members will travel to San Luis Obispo for Austin Dickens’ graduation from Cal Poly. Austin was born and raised in Valley Home. He was a member of Valley Home 4-H and has been involved in almost every event in our Valley Home community! Austin played baseball at Oakdale High before graduating in 2013. He is the son of Vicki Dickens of Valley Home and Kevin Dickens of Oakdale. Austin’s proud grandparents are Kathy and Marcell Dickens, Marjorie Reeves and the late Bill Reeves. Congratulations Austin, Valley Home is so very proud of you!
