William “Bill” Joseph Bennett, was born March 25, 1940 and passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 while doing what he loved most, checking the mail and greeting his fellow neighbors. Bill was born and raised in San Francisco until joining the Navy on August 21, 1958 and served aboard the USS Mann and completed his tour of duty on August 20, 1964. Bill would then relocate to McMinnville where he would meet the love of his life for the past 50 years, his surviving wife Antoinette “Toni” Bennett. They have been married 48 years. In 2012 they moved to Oakdale, CA to be closer to family and have resided here ever since.

Bill is a proud veteran, and has been an active member of the American Legion in Escalon. He is survived by his son James Greer, son Martin Greer, daughter Sandra Greer from Toni’s side and from his side, son Richard Bennett and daughter Teresa Pesce. There will be a Celebration of Life for Bill this Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Escalon American Legion Hall from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
