VIRGINIA JEANNE ARBINI

ARBINI K

Our beautiful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, a month shy of her 95th birthday. She entered the world on March 8, 1921, in Turlock, CA, as Virginia Jeanne Bostwick, daughter of Hattie Jane and James Francis Bostwick. At the age of 13 in the midst of the depression years she lost her father and was lovingly raised by her mother Hattie.
She graduated from Turlock High School in 1939. During World War II she enlisted in the National Guard where she met a handsome fellow Guardsman, Joe Arbini, who was to become her husband and the love of her life. They married on April 10, 1943, and enjoyed almost 65 wonderful years together. She worked on the clerical staff at Zimmerman Insurance Agency for five years before retiring in 1948 to raise her family. Her smile and laughter could light up a room. She was the heart of our family – strong, self-sacrificing and the rock upon which we all leaned. We affectionately called her “Boss.”
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank Bostwick and wife Frances, her loving husband Joe and sisters-in-law Josie Arbini Lamperti, Annie Arbini and Nora Arbini Galas and her husband Gus.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Mathes, son Dennis Arbini (Julie), grandson Brian Arbini (Gretchen) and great-granddaughter Addelyn Arbini, all of Oakdale. She is also survived by niece Patty Scott (Richard) and nephews Don Bostwick (Donna) and Jim Bostwick (Jeanne).
Our family wishes to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Brenda Marmon and her staff of attentive and compassionate caregivers who made mom’s last weeks comfortable. Burial will be private. There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
