MARJORIE ANN LUCERO obit

Marjorie Ellen (Varley) Lucero, born on August 21, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 in Oakdale, California.

Marjorie spent her formative years in Stuart, Iowa, alongside her four siblings. She pursued her passion for music at Simpson College, where she earned a degree in Music Education. In August 1958 she moved to Sacramento, California, and on January 1, 1959, she married Richard Lucero. She later moved to Campbell and then San Jose before making Oakdale her home in 2001.

Despite her separation from Richard, Marjorie remained steadfast in her love and dedication to her family. She was also a devoted preschool teacher and was blessed with five children of her own: Kent Lucero, Kyle Richardson, Keri Lucero, Kirk Lucero (who, sadly, passed away shortly after birth), and Kristy Gorman. Moreover, Marjorie was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored beyond measure.

Marjorie’s love extended far beyond her immediate family. She found joy in nurturing her garden, admiring birds, food, and singing in the church choir. Her unwavering faith, boundless love, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love she shared and the lives she touched. The family appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and condolences during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life and reception will be held at Oakdale United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. Per Marge’s wishes, please refrain from wearing black.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Al-Anon, JFO, or CUMC.
