Douglas E. Atwood, 95, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 24.

He was born and raised in Stockton. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1933.

During World War II, he served as chief petty officer in the Navy Seabees.

In 1956, he moved to Oakdale where he and his wife owned and operated Atwood Jewelers for 26 years.

Mr. Atwood was a charter member of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma; son, Stephen Atwood of Stockton; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 No. Stearns Road, Oakdale.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
