Oakdale City officials approved the allocation of $250,000 of CARES Act funding for the Oakdale Small Businesses Relief Grant Program, approving a Memorandum of Understanding with Opportunity Stanislaus in the amount of $10,000 to help administer the Oakdale Small Business Relief Grant Program.

Many Oakdale businesses have been negatively affected by the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application period opened Monday, Sept. 21 and will end Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for consideration.

Opportunity Stanislaus (OS) will provide the following financial, material and labor resources in respect of the project:

OS will provide dedicated staff to help Oakdale businesses with the grant application.

OS will contract with a web design company to create the website.

OS will market the grant program to Oakdale businesses through social media, direct e-mail and through the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce.

General eligibility for the COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grant Program is as follows:

Must be a for-profit, independently owned business located in Oakdale, CA with primary business location in Oakdale city limits. However, should the City of Oakdale have excess funding, there may be the potential to open up a second round of funding that would be open to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations.

Proof of at least consecutive months of operation from March 19, 2020.

Possess a current City of Oakdale and/or County business license and permit to operate.

Provide proof of financial hardship due to COVID-19.

No involvement in illegal activity per local, state, or federal regulations (i.e. cannabis related operations are not eligible).

The City of Oakdale has been allocated $776,459 in CARES Act funding. This funding is being utilized to cover the extraordinary costs the city has incurred responding to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to support local businesses. So far, Oakdale has purchased special barricades to assist in the creation of outdoor spaces for businesses and purchased face masks to give to businesses as well. The funding for Oakdale Small Business Relief Grant Program will come from the remaining CARES Act funds. This will not impact the City of Oakdale’s General Fund.
