The race to fill a vacant seat on the Oakdale Joint Unified School Board is open to voters in Trustee Area 2. Competing for the post are Terri Taylor and Eric Kjeldgaard.

The following is information provided on the OJUSD website regarding the trustee area.

The region bounded and described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the western boundary of the School District and its intersection with the Sierra Northern Railway; then proceeding east along the Sierra Northern Railway to its intersection with South Willowood Drive; then proceeding north on South Willowood Drive to its intersection with West F Street; then proceeding east along West F Street to its intersection with North Oak Avenue; then proceeding north along North Oak Avenue to its intersection with Walnut Street; then proceeding west along Walnut Street to its intersection with the western edge of APN 063004019; then proceeding north along the western edge of that parcel and the adjacent parcels to the intersection with the Stanislaus River; then proceeding east along the Stanislaus River to its intersection with Valley Home Road; then proceeding north along Valley Home Road to its intersection with Lambuth Road; then proceeding east and north along Lambuth Road to its intersection with Dale Road; then proceeding west along Dale Road to its intersection with Valley Home Road; then proceeding north along Valley Home Road to its intersection of the County Line; then north along the County Line to its intersection with the exterior boundary of the School District; then west and south along the western edge of the School District boundary to the Point of Origin.

Ballots have been mailed to those residents living within the boundaries of Trustee Area No. 2; they are the only ones eligible to vote in this all-mail election, with a deadline of March 7. The special election is to fill the vacancy created last year when Larry Betschart resigned from the post. Ballots may be returned by mail and a ballot drop box is also available at Belmare Senior Living, 1450 W.F St., Oakdale.
