The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 21 through Monday, March 27. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 27

MST crews performed weekly equipment checks on front line equipment.

Battalion 2: Crews focused on apparatus and station maintenance.

Training was conducted at the station level.

Battalion 5: Crews completed weekly equipment maintenance.

Crews participated in company level training.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 26

Battalion 2: Crews focused on apparatus and station maintenance.

Training was conducted at the station level.

Battalion 5: Modesto Engines 27, 28, and 29 conducted water rescue boat orientation and maintenance with probationary employees at Fire Station 28 in Oakdale.

9:07 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Engine 28, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries involving a motorcycle down at River Road and Cleveland Avenue. Engine 28 arrived on scene with one motorcycle down with two patients. Engine 27 and Engine 28 provided patient care; both patients were immediate and transported to local hospitals.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 25

Battalion 5: Crews worked on station maintenance and apparatus checks.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 24

THURSDAY, MARCH 23

Battalion 2: Crews conducted company level training.

Companies provided coverage during a three-alarm fire.

Battalion 5: 12:03 a.m. – MST units responded to a potential structure fire at the 300 block of First. E28 reported light smoke in the building investigating. E28 and E27 extinguished fire in the fireplace and checked for extension. No extension into the structure. E28 ventilated the smoke out of the building.

Firefighter Philipp (Engine 27) successfully completed the MST 7-month firefighter probationary exam.

Crews pre-planned a recently vacant building in Station 27’s FMA.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22

Congratulations to probationary firefighters Teixeira and Waite for successfully completing their 7-month test.

ALS companies rotated through training at PHI, one of our local air ambulances.

Crews trained on a new advanced airway technique using a new video camera. The new technology will improve how we treat our patients.

Battalion 5: 12:25 a.m. – MST units responded to a working structure fire in the 10000 block of Gray Road. E28 arrived on scene and reported a tree down with multiple power lines down. E28 investigated and reported negative fire; one patient with a leg injury. E28 requested PG&E. E27 and E29 remained on scene for patient care and securing a perimeter until PG&E arrived. The balance of the resources was canceled.

MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

E29 conducted trained on the Stanislaus River.

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 21

Battalion 2: Firefighter Tamburrino passed his 7-month test.

Commercial working structure drill was performed at Del Rio Restaurant in Riverbank. E1, SQ11, E9, E24, T5 and BC2 participated.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted in house training.
